In addition to being owned and operated by female entrepreneurs, most of these options are entirely plant-based! When you’re creating your weekly grocery list, or planning your weekend date night, we implore you to try something new…and support a women-owned local business!

Katboocha is a women-owned kombucha brewery that recently opened up a brick and mortar in the Public Market District of Rochester! In addition to their storefront on Railroad St., you can find Katboocha’s local flavors at your favorite bars, cafes and restaurants! Whether drinking a Katboocha cocktail, shandy, or punch, or just enjoying the real mccoy, our guts are leaping for joy, and our tastebuds are screaming, “hell yes!”


A plant-based staple in Rochester, The Red Fern was founded with a focus on animal rights, health, ethics, environmental/social consciousness. They serve an entirely vegan menu with many gluten-free options, including entrees, sandwiches, salads, fresh juice, smoothies, house-baked pastries, weekend brunch, beer & wine. Most of their food is prepared from scratch in-house using locally-sourced or organic ingredients whenever possible. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch our vegan licks on their menu!


Founded in 2012, Voula’s offers a delicious variety of vegetarian greek specialties with many vegan options! Whether you’re looking for brunch, dinner, or a sweet treat, Voula’s is a must-have in Rochester. We love their warm, eclectic, and fun spot for a full meal, or just a coffee and a cookie!


The Saucey Chef is a take-out sensation in Rochester! Margherita serves up delicious comfort food out of an inconspicuous location behind the old Sticky Lips BBQ on Culver Rd. If this year has taught us anything, it is that take out is everything, and The Saucey Chef proves that!! Spirit and Abundance is another plant-based powerhouse producing delicious faux cheeses using nuts! Their delicious creamy flavors will have your taste buds fooled and craving for more. Ali is dedicated to the plant-based lifestyle, offering cooking and lifestyle education, and moonlighting at Eat Me Ice Cream! You can purchase her Plant Based and Vegan Nut “Cheeses” on her website.


The vegan options continue…women in Rochester really are killing it with the plant-based options! The owner of Misfit Donuts, Jenny, is dedicated to her mission and has prevailed through many obstacles. She offers vegan truffles, cakes, cookies, pies, cheesecakes, and of course donuts out of her new Gregory St. location! Act fast because their coveted plant-based treats are known to sell out.


If you’re looking for more sweets, Scratch Bakeshop is garunteed to take it to the next level. This boutique bakeshop creates amazing custom orders in addition to their daily case of sweet offerings. The offer traditional, vegan, & gluten free options. If you’re not yet plant-based, their treats are a great entry point…we can rarely tell the difference!


Morgan’s Cereal Bar on East Ave. of Rochester was an instant sensation! This women-owned business takes breakfast to the next level with high-end cereal sundaes, fresh waffles, and other breakfast staples like shrimp & grits.


Located in downtown Rochester, Viticulture wine bar popped up on the scene right before last year’s massive restrictions for the restaurant industry. Despite everything, they have prevailed and continue to offer a well curated and rotating selection of wines in their modernly designed space on Alexander!


Established in 1964, this locally owned and operated neighborhood butcher shop and grocery store is a Brighton staple for the best quality, best tasting meats and convenient grocery items you will find. They even stock Eat Me Ice Cream in their freezer!
